On September 10, 2025, around 8:26 AM, 50-year-old Indian-origin motel manager Chandramouli Nagamallaiah was brutally killed at the Downtown Suites Motel in Dallas, Texas. The conflict began during a routine morning inspection of a motel room when Nagamallaiah noticed a broken washing machine. Because staff member Yordanis Cobos-Martinez had limited English proficiency, Nagamallaiah instructed a female colleague to convey and translate the instruction not to use the machine. Martinez took offense to being addressed through an intermediary and engaged in an aggressive argument that turned physical. Nagamallaiah attempted to flee from the room and ran downstairs toward the front office parking area. Martinez pursued him with a sharp weapon/machete, attacked him, and decapitated him in front of Nagamallaiah's wife and son. Martinez then kicked the severed head, carried it across the motel compound, and threw it into a trash bin before fleeing.
